What I’m Trying to Do Here

View from a Farley originally launched in 2008.  At that time, it was a blog and podcast.  A few months later, I canned the podcast.  Since then, View from a Farley has been a blog, but I’ve had trouble updating it.  Someone once told me that blogs that don’t have fresh content every single day have a lot of trouble attracting an audience.  I not only want an audience, but I want to engage my audience in meaningful discussion.

I realized that something needed to change.  The View from a Farley of old specialized in long posts.  A lot of time, effort, and research went into many of those posts, but they were just too time-conusming to put out on a regular basis.

I decided to move to what I call the Daring Fireball model.  Daring Fireball is John Gruber’s collection of links, quotes, and snippets of what he’s reading along with his comments.  On occasion, he writes a long, thoroughly researched post.

From this new model, I get flexibility.  I can share the most interesting articles I read on a particular day complete with my comments.  When I want to, I can write a longer post.  I hope you all find my posts, both short and long, engaging and amusing.  I invite you to add to the discussion in the comments for each post.
